February 19 - March 26, 2009
The Distillery Gallery presents work from and about the emerging artist-run residency in Alaska: the homestead AK. Six artists journeyed to Alaska during the summer of 2008 to see what it is like to live and work with nearly 24 hours of daylight. Elizabeth Amento, Michele Brodie, Darren Lee Miller, Richard Spartos and Thomas Stevenson all traveled to Alaska at the request of Chuck Chaney to assess the experience and produce work.
The six-week exhibit will contain works from this diverse group of artists ranging from photography and video to sculpture and performance. Additionally, documentation about the development of the residency will be on display.
