Curated by Boon and Noah Grigni
Organized by Boston LGBTQIA Artist Alliance
Boston LGBTQIAA Artist Alliance (BLAA) and Distillery Gallery are pleased to present Sanqtuary, an exhibition organized by Boon and Noah Grigni. The organizers have gathered a group of 18 local and national LGBTQIA artists who work in a range of disciplines and techniques, including sculpture, painting, printmaking, collage, photography, and performance. The artists find refuge in their queerness, in their bodies, and in the spaces they occupy. Sanqtuary will serve as a niche space for LGBTQIA creatives to take their guard down, celebrate their identities, and reconnect with each other.
It is crucial now more than ever to center the voices of those who are most silenced and erased within the LGBTQIA community. Sanqtuary centers the work of LGBTQIA artists of color, trans artists, and LGBTQIA artists living in repressive environments. Sanqtuary is a platform for people of heterogeneous identities and backgrounds, working together to strengthen the LGBTQIA community through art.
The reception will include live performances by Boon, MonteQarlo, Tori Grace Nichols, and Jairo Rodriguez.
Sanqtuary features work by the following artists:
Boon, Rashod Blades, Samu Boyne, Jory Cherry, Aaren Johnson Davis, Noah Grigni, YoAhn Han, Ryan Kelso, Xena Lander, MonteQarlo, Tori Grace Nichols, Adrian Pulido, Sean Randall, Jairo Rodriguez, Lenny Schnier, Emmett Stoffer, & Ana Zeghibe
Opening Reception and Performance: December 8, 7-10 PM
