Ferrymen is a collection of new work by siblings Jordan and Melanie Bernier.
Who are ferrymen?
In ancient folklore and spiritual texts, ferrymen appear during times of change. They transport us from one world, or way of being, to the next. Ferrymen can bring us to some gnarly places, yet they carry us forward without judgement. It's kinda hot.
On view are table sculptures by Jordan, accompanied by a multimedia sound installation. Melanie's felted and pieced fiber works, video, and ritual objects have been made during a real doozy of a ferryman period in her life. They reference witchcraft, Tarot, ancient female archetypes, and folklore - fields of study she has turned to for spiritual healing.
Together, their work speaks to how ancestry, story, and communion offer meaning in our strange and ecstatic lives.
