Boston sculptor Adria Arch presents Flight Risk, a large-scale suspended installation that transforms the gallery into an immersive environment of color, movement, and light. The exhibition features Arch’s signature lightweight polystyrene sculptural forms, alongside video by Somerville artist Allison Tanenhaus, and culminates in a performance by the Human Movement Project.
Arch suspends boldly colored organic forms throughout the gallery, creating structures that engage gravity as both collaborator and constraint—forms that appear weightless yet are anchored in precise physical relationships. Tanenhaus's video projections onto Arch's rotating forms in an adjacent gallery space create layered visual complexity and shifting perspectives.
Arch’s work continues explorations begun by Pattern and Decoration artists like Elizabeth Murray and Joyce Kozloff. Her maximalist approach—embracing bold color, repetition, and excess—operates as an act of joy and resistance. Her suspended installations have been exhibited at San Luis Obispo Museum of Art in California, Brattleboro Art Museum in Vermont, and more locally at the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Danforth Art Museum, and Boston City Hall.
