Artist statement:
A Polaroid every day of 2019. I didn’t have any expectations in mind, and I tried not to think about it too hard. I just wanted to take a photograph each day for a year.
Shooting instant film is a way to experience magic every day. It is a way to make photography tangible in this digital age. It is the welcoming of surprise, imperfection, and a could-never-recreate-it photograph. That is what makes shooting Polaroids fascinating and exciting.
My hope in the end is that it will emphasize the beauty of the every-day. Every small step is leading you somewhere. It has been the practice of fully embracing the imperfect and uncertainty in life, and in the medium, and continuing to find the beauty in it all.
